Heel pain is usually caused by our body “getting older” and therefore the muscles and tendons are not as flexible. With this decrease in flexibility the tiny bones of the foot moves a little and therefore every step you take your foot bones are not in the correct alignment. This causes the little tendons and muscles to be “overused” at the incorrect angle, therefore causing pain.

Often the pain starts occasionally, then progresses more frequently. The most painful time is usually those first few steps when you get out of bed.

  • Wear your trainers to and from work
  • Purchase new trainers that are not able to be bent in half
  • Wear shoes that are lace up or buckle up
  • Stretch your calves daily
